Abstract

Problems and challenges facing the developing countries including global drive to address imbalances in gender equality, protection of women and children, human capacity development to meet the challenges of the 21st century and global environmental problems.
Others are diseases, lack of sanitation, famine and lack of employment, constitute the biggest challenge. Since the aims of any country include the improvement of the quality of life of all citizens, a number of measures taken are aimed at improving the quality of life of all people in the country through sound education. This paper highlights challenges faced by the education sector in the Province of KwaZuluNatal, in its efforts of human development. It reports on the ideas of a variety of stakeholders in education on what needs to be done in order to realise sustainable human development in education.
