Transport and Environment for Sustainable Development of the Third World: Strategies for Nigeria
Abstract
Non-polluting transportation systems that provide high level of amenities and are at the same time low in energy use are needed in
both developed and developing countries, including Nigerian cities. Honest pricing of different means of transport (for both passengers and freight) and the introduction of more efficient and rational vehicles are among the most important steps that need to be taken. This study examines the strategies open to Nigeria to attain these objectives.
